It can happen in the blink of an eye. You read a post on Facebook about an event that
has come and gone and you say to yourself, “Darn, I would have liked to have gone
to that!” The art scene can be a very fast paced and almost impromptu dynamic.
Occasionally, Art Chowder will run a story that is a review of an artist or event that
has already taken place, such as our current article on the world famous illustrator
Ron Campbell, who recently had a weekend show at Marmot Art Space. When I met
Ron at the gallery, I was thrilled when he agreed to let us tell a bit of his story. Ron’s
memorable animations have permeated so many of our lives: The Beatles, Yellow
Submarine, Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Smurfs, Rug Rats, Goof Troup and more - he is
the amazing wizard who created our fond Saturday morning cartoon memories.
One way to stay “in the know” on current arts events, is to join our Facebook Page:

You will also see in this issue the masterful works of Joe Kronenberg. Joe’s works
have been instrumental in generating funds for our public bronzes in Spokane Valley
through the auctions held by the Spokane Valley Arts Council. His works are mes-
merizing and sought after worldwide by collectors.
In true Art Chowder fashion we are excited to share with our opera fans (or soon-to-
become opera fans), the collaboration between the Spokane Symphony and Opera
Coeur d’Alene, for a performance of the famous opera “Carmen” by French compos-
er Georges Bizet. From cartoons to Carmen, you can count on Art Chowder to share
the talent and diversity within our arts community.
Thank you,
