The name Tinnabulation is derived from the word Tintinnabulation, which means the ringing or chiming of bells. The name is appropriate for Spokane, as the clock tower in Riverfront Park is an iconic figure for the city. The clock tower will be at the heart of the entire festival, with majestic Riverfront Park hosting the event. Tinnfest organizers want to make sure that the name resonates with the city, giving citizens something to hold on to and call their own.
Tinnabulation starts the weekend off with a bang, starring the John Butler Trio, one of Australia’ s most award winning bands. The group Frenship joins them to open the weekend, as front man Brett Hite heads back to Spokane to perform live for the first time in front of his hometown crowd. Frenship is fresh off the release of their platinum selling song“ Capsize,” named by Spotify to its 2016 Top 10“ Songs of the Summer.” Barns Courtney will be flying across the pond from England, to really jumpstart the weekend.
