aving all this versatility and
expandability at hand, Jimmy
emphasizes that Amplified Wax is eager
to welcome artists performing every
conceivable style and genre of music, as
well as creative spoken voice projects
for radio and TV advertising, industrial
video and film applications, poetry,
creative sound design and special sound
effects. No project is insurmountable,
and Jimmy is keen to encourage novel or
unusual ideas and unique challenges be
brought to his table.
He is also very mindful of the latest
innovations and new developments in
the industry, and is constantly updating
and replacing equipment and software to
ensure that his studio is always right at
the cutting edge of his profession.
It is hardly surprising then, that all
of Jimmy and Mandy’s hard work,
dedication, ingenuity and expertise is
being recognized and praised not only
locally and regionally, but also on a
national and even global level. This is
amply reflected in a long list of artists
who have chosen Amplified Wax as their
go-to studio to record and produce their
craft, names that include international
blues superstar Joe Bonamassa, and,
the latest in an illustrious lineup of
Spokane’s famous sons, rock music icon
Myles Kennedy!
Proudly displayed along the “wall
of fame” corridor leading from the
entrance through to the studio complex,
hang scores of framed CD cases and
album artwork, mostly designed by
graphic designer Mandy, and every one
a proud product that has been created
at Amplified Wax. Here you’ll spot
established and upcoming artists like
Escape The Fate, Tech N9ne, Matt
Koma, Eva Simons, Jango, Dario
Ré, Alive In Barcelona, The Broken
Thumbs, Everyone Loves A Villain, The
Nixon Rodeo … the list goes on and is
growing fast!

Just think, your name could possibly find
its way onto that great wall one day.
The story behind the evolution of
Amplified Wax is a relatively short yet
delightfully encouraging one which
began less than two decades ago with the
passion of a young Spokane guitarist,
to not only improve and develop his
playing skills, but also to find better
ways to record his music and that of
his band. From endless hours spent
recording in a small basement, honing
his skills coaxing the best possible sound
out of very rudimentary equipment, to
the founding of Amplified Wax’s first
purpose-built studio in the Garland
District of Spokane, the initiative was
to create a respectable and accessible
studio facility other bands and artists
could also take advantage of. This they
certainly did! As momentum continued
to grow, Jimmy and Mandy saw the need
and potential to expand their operation
even further.
In just under a decade they plowed
all their trust, finances, resources and
sheer muscle power into constructing
today’s newest Amplified Wax, a
location they literally hand built from
the ground up over the period of an
entire year!
This spirit of single-minded
purpose and direction is particularly
inspirational, and brings to mind an
age-old proverb that describes it all
perfectly, “From little acorns, mighty
oak trees grow!”
