Art Chowder: That’s a lot of time. If
you could reach back through time to
shake hands and talk to any artist, who
would it be?
daniel: It would definitely be the
obvious, Van Gogh. Just because of all
the beautiful stuff that he was trying
to show people, and because maybe
he never got to hear how much people
enjoy his work.
I’m not real hokey pokey about stuff,
but when I was painting his portrait
it was in the colors he used, so when
I was done (for almost the next week
or so) it was like I saw the world as
a more beautiful place —like he was
trying to show in his work. It was
really interesting. But I also had this
weird need to detach from his sorrow.
Almost like he was painting this stuff,
and nobody saw the beauty that he
saw. It was interesting, but it would be
interesting to learn his character too.
Like who he was. Was he a calm type
of guy or manic? You never know —
artist personalities.
Art Chowder: *LOL* Yup. Like you said, they are unique and that’s a great thing.
So, any upcoming projects?
Daniel: As far as upcoming projects, I’ve learned not to pull the ace out the sleeve
until I know what hand I’ve been dealt. I’m trying to get a few out-of-state projects
going, but nothing definite yet. The huge amount of local support has kept me afloat
and I am forever thankful for the city I live in.
