NW Dance Project ’ s website beautifully states how they desire to engage others in the performing arts . “ Because dance cannot survive without new audiences and a deepened appreciation of the art form , we strive to engage individuals and communities with dance through accessible performances by our company , studio sessions , dance samplers , outdoor performances , special events , master classes , collaborations with artists of other performing arts and visual genres and conversation with artists . We even do the unexpected — bringing performances to the streets , coffee shops , hospitals and the occasional escalator in shopping malls .” The website also mentions that they love offering the experience of dance and ongoing , interactive dance education programs for young , challenged members of the community through their cost-free “ Dance Moves ” program and holding free public performances as often as possible .
Over the years , the NW Dance Project studio has become its own version of a memory house . Each piece that is workshopped and performed and conceptualized in the studio has left an imprint on the dancers , choreographers , and everyone else who has made these performances possible . Every piece evolves in the studio in ways that the audience cannot even imagine . The dancers and choreographers leave their own handprint on these pieces in a way that is unique to dance itself . Over the years , the NW Dance Project has become its own “ memory house ,” full of light and laughter , of creativity and a love for dance .
