An
Interview with ARTIST
ANDY
SEWELL
By Marilee Hudon
Art Chowder: Andy, thank you for interviewing with Art Chowder. I understand you grew up here in the Pacific Northwest?
Passionate, outdoorsy, and driven— three words that best describe artist Andy Sewell. His passion is not only for his art, but also for his family and faith. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, he’ s enjoyed much of what this area has to offer, and finds inspiration from its natural beauty. His works capture scenes of incredible beauty, and( he hopes) invoke sweet memories, as well as a sense of peace. Beyond being an accomplished artist, he is also a keen observer of both nature, and the human condition. Quick to share a story or opinion, he is an interesting conversationalist and a talented painter. Keep reading to learn more about artist Andy Sewell.
Andy: Yes. I was born in Bellevue, WA. When I was six we moved to Ketchum, ID. I grew up in Sun Valley Ski Resort. There were seven kids in my family, four older, and two younger than me. It was an interesting adventure at times. My dad worked in real estate. My mom worked at the resort, and that allowed all us kids to ski for free. It was lots of fun growing up there.
Art Chowder: What drew you into being an artist?
Andy: I always liked to draw, but as a kid I was too busy outdoors: skiing, fishing, motorcycle riding, etc. I remember Mom would bring us to church on Sundays.
