ANDY SEWELL
By Marilee Hudon
Another thing I’ve dabbled in was metal
art. My son, Josh, learned how to weld
in high school. So when we first saw
metal art coming out at the shows, you
know, little dragonflies or hummingbirds
on a stick, I thought, we can do that! I
mean, I’m a graphic designer. I can cre-
ate the shapes, and Josh could cut them
out and assemble them. It could be fun.
Josh and I started working together, and
it was really fun. Metal is cool. We did
that for a year or two, but it was 2008
and the economy was deplorable. We
made a bunch of really cool stuff, and
enjoyed it, but it didn’t sell very well,
usually just enough to cover our space
fee. We also didn’t have a dedicated area
to weld, so we put that on hold.
