Is there anything you wish you
had done differently in your
own career as an artist? Do you
have any advice for emerging
artists?
I have done a lot of exhibitions
and have been very disappointed in some of them. Try to stick to
the ones that work and don’t waste
your time in things that don’t. 14
Years ago I prostituted my art on
some Online auction sites, that was
a huge mistake, art sells at a fraction
of the price it’s worth and the hammer price never disappears from the
Internet, it has taken me fourteen
years to only now start pricing my
work at reasonable prices.
What is your favorite childhood
memory? The times we spent on
holiday in the Kruger National Park,
the quietness and smell of the African bush, night fires burning
throughout the campsite. Ah, bliss
and no worries in the world, listening to my dad playing guitar and
harmonica while we pushed old Mopanie logs into the fire.
Do you have a “bucket list” so
to speak as an artist? I would
still love to do an exhibition in the
United States, however with our exchange rate it is quite expensive, but
that is one of my dreams I’m working
on.
