A rtist Jessica Bryant is an award-winning watercolorist who has shown her artwork throughout the nation. Jessica has held eight Artist-in-Residence positions within our national parks; she is a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and is director of the Fine Arts League at Sorensen Magnet School of the Arts and Humanities. She’s had adventures across America and lives in Coeur d’Alene, teaching art out of a shared studio in a quaint old two-story brick schoolhouse. Her space is called Redbrick Art Studio and as I entered the building I couldn’t help but notice the lovely aged woodwork, the creaking of the floor boards, and the soft mellow music emanating from her studio. The space is inviting and Jessica herself is warm, energetic, and engaging — a natural teacher, as well as a superb painter. M.J: Jessica, welcome to Art Chowder. Tell us, have you always lived in the Pacific Northwest? Jessica: I grew up in the Twin Cities and went to college at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. I moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2000, shortly after graduating. 22 ART CHOWDER MAGAZINE
