Scott
Wilburn
– Taking musical multitasking to a whole new artistic level
By Janis V. Bers
H
ere’s an intriguing question. What
do all of the following have in common?
Multi-instrumentalist musician, nuclear
systems engineer, singer/songwriter and
recording artist, construction worker,
luthier, fine artist, audio engineer,
graphic designer, studio producer, and
music store proprietor.
Collectively all of these diverse skills
are the aptitudes of one immensely
talented individual, Mr. Scott Wilburn of
Sandpoint, in North Idaho!
Conceivably he could possibly have
been called Jack, but Scott is most
definitely a master of all his trades!
Just one month after Scott was born in
Southern California his parents relocated
to Washington’s Tri-Cities, where his
deep curiosity in all things not only
developed but became something of an
obsession, and Scott was eager to learn
much more about many subjects.

His keen interest in music goes back
as far as he can recall — even as a
very young lad Scott had learned to
play the guitar, whilst at the same time
investigating its physical structure and
why it sounded the delightful way it did.
He also enjoyed singing alongside his
playing, and this was undoubtedly going
to play one of the key roles in his later
accomplishments.
He also loved drawing and painting,
and at an early age Scott was creating
original cartoon characters and even
complete comic-magazine style pages
which in due course would resurface as
another of his multitasking assets.
Once schooldays had ended and young
adulthood was calling for a career with
a living wage, Scott’s first profession
was in the nuclear industry, where as a
technical engineer he was testing newly
constructed systems and initiating their
operation.
