isiting her website, https://carolschmauder.
com, the viewer will find many recognizable places
around the Inland Northwest. Born and raised in
Spokane, Washington, she paints with a special
affinity for bridges and waterfalls. “I love [them].
Waterfalls make me feel the power of God.” One
particular inspiration from a stop at Snoqualmie
Falls captured the beauty in nature. As she soaked
in the scenery, she “felt the gifts we’ve been given.”
She is grateful to God for the talent He has given
her. “Painting brings peace to my soul. I love the
flow of the paint beneath my brush and the joys of
seeing the image emerge on the paper.”
Local attractions aren’t her only subjects. Carol
is a national and a world traveler who journeys
to inspiring places. She often takes a photograph
for reference and paints to tell a story; such
as the painting Abandoned, where the subject
was a land-locked decaying boat in Ireland. “It
makes me wonder, how it ended up there. What
was its purpose when it was functional?” Carol
has exhibited in galleries in Portland, Oregon;
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and Spokane, Washington;
however, her paintings can be found in collections
nationwide.
