ance Van Winckel is a prolific and prize-winning writer of fiction and poetry , a teacher , an editor , and a photographer . Beyond receiving two National Endowment for the Arts poetry fellowships , three Pushcart Prizes , the Paterson Fiction Prize , and a Christopher Isherwood Fiction Fellowship ( to name a few ) she has also taken her poetry into a visual medium . She has pushed the boundaries of what most people assume is poetry and made it more accessible in the process .
