F YVONNE A . K . JOHNSON , EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF SPOKANE VALLEY SUMMER THEATRE , HAD A PENNY FOR EVERY TIME SHE HAS BEEN ASKED “ WHAT ’ S NEXT ?” SHE MIGHT IRONICALLY HAVE ENOUGH TO FUND THE NEWEST ARTISTIC EXPANSION OF THE SPOKANE VALLEY SUMMER THEATRE ( SVST ).
Although that may be a bit of an exaggeration , the $ 36 million development is underway with a groundbreaking to take place in the fall , after countless years of questions from the community regarding expansion and desired growth .
The new Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center ( SVPAC ) will provide year-round arts for all to enjoy and Johnson is thrilled their dreams are becoming a reality .
“ The dream has always been to be able to produce , direct , and operate out of a regional professional performing arts center ,” Johnson says .
