The more things change ... by Eric Cook
e can speculate over an entire bottle of wine about what ancient wine may have tasted like , but alas , we will never know .
However vivid the histories and treatises , shipwrecks and archaeologies may paint us a picture from which we base our speculations , there are other cultural “ survivals ” of wine traditions to offer glimpses into the practices of ancient and medieval wine .
