MARK ANDERSON

my first piece of fiction published in an online magazine called The Chamber . It ’ s a horror-ish story titled “ Charles-Never- Charlie ” in which a young man returns to his hometown to visit a former neighbor while dealing with the feeling that he isn ’ t living up to his expectations of where he is supposed to be at that point in life .

Clearly , the pressure and the structure of these sorts of activities aren ’ t for everyone . And the process may or may not produce a “ good book .” Rie mentioned that she thought there was a bit of a stigma for books produced this way and yet some books that have been developed using this means have been published . You may have read some and not even known it .
I reached out to libraries , bookstores and groups to see who is creating in-person writing events around these two monthly activities . Obviously with COVID-19 , many things slowed down , but most community libraries are offering support to writers ’ groups through providing free meeting space ; most have scads of books about how to write books , and many have online resources . Spokane County Library
District has created an OverDrive digital booklist geared for writers and writing .

Gwendolyn Haley , Public Services Manager for Education and Enrichment at Spokane County Library District , said , “ I am hopeful that we can bring our writers ’ conference back in 2022 . As a regional , free conference held in October , it has been popular with local writers and has been an energizing event for NaNoWriMo each year we ’ ve held the conference .”
