Art Chowder: It sounds like you have to be pretty careful. GINGER: Hah, only as careful as you want to be; really, you don’t have to worry about it. It’s just clay and it’s fun to play!  If you haven’t fired it and you don’t like it, you put it back in the bucket, wet it down, wedge it together again and start making something new. My life is kind of like that right now.  20 ART CHOWDER MAGAZINE Art Chowder:    How so? GINGER: Well, I started sharing my private studio as GO Art Center a little over a year ago, after my life took a turn. My living circumstances and job both changed at the same time. At my age you don’t get a new career easily, so I took an entrepreneur program at SCC and set my sights on coordinating my lifestyle with my passion for ceramic sculpture. I wanted to have my days filled with ease as I age. I have sight challenges, but I’ve had a lot of people lending a hand and supporting me. I’m realistic about feeling my way through the rest of my life with macular degeneration. I’m very happy that I chose to create with clay so I can literally feel my way through the forms that are in my mind’s eye. My mind’s eye has recorded fabulous detail, so I feel the union of “Clay and Me” was meant to be.
