Nishiki and Bartosz are considering a show together in the near future.
They still need to choose a common theme, and though they are both
experimenting with sculpture, they are still in the planning stages.
Q: Any Advice for Artists in Relationships?
A suggestion handed down over many generations from Bartosz’s friend
is the popular marriage advice adaptation of Ephesians 4:26 “Don’t go
to bed angry.” This is a contract both Nishiki and Bartosz have signed
and placed as a reminder on the refrigerator.
Nishiki: “Enjoy the process. Try to find the joy in balancing life and art.”
Bartosz: “Two lions in one cage must find a way not to eat each other.”
Bartosz and Nishiki Sugawara-Beda may appear to be different art-
ists on the surface, yet both use language in their work: Nishiki with
calligraphy as inspiration under a layer of water medium and Bartosz
incorporating words to his paintings to add content. Art by nature is an
examination of the human condition and speaks to an individual on
numerous levels.
