FIRST FRIDAYS. First Fridays (not surprisingly held on the first Friday of each month) are gallery sales at the POAC Gallery, 110 Main Street, Sandpoint. These exhibits, in the office gallery and also in the large reception hall of the building, are themed to spark the creativity of our member artists and the receptions cater to art enthusiasts of all genres. The Pend d’Oreille Winery partners with POAC by providing wines for the receptions and by featuring a local artist in an exhibit in their tasting room. Other art galleries downtown also participate in this “all about arts” event. STUDENT ART SHOW. Middle and high school students are featured at their exclusive exhibit each year which gives family, friends and the public the opportunity to purchase artwork and to encourage these budding artists to pursue their artistic talents. GEEZER GALLERY. Equally as important as educating our young is giving our senior population the opportunity to continue to grow intellectually and to stimulate their creativity. With this goal in mind, POAC has collaborated with Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc. and the local Geezer Forum to hold classes in visual arts. This winter, the program will include classes in drawing and collage. Funding for Pend Oreille Arts Council is provided by grants, local business sponsors, ticket sales and the generosity of individuals in the community. If you are interested in more information about POAC, specifically when events will be happening, or how you can get involved, go to our website, www.artinsandpoint.org or call the office at 208-263-6139.
