June 27 features the Van Paepeghem REGIONAL REPORT Cd’A ARTS & CULTURE ALLIANCE Quartet from southern Idaho, who thoroughly embrace the unique American jazz art form. Silky vocals combined with the band’s magnetic stage presence and superb musicianship breathe new life into classic hits. Local singer/songwriter, Melissa Jackson, opens. July 11 brings the Pacific Northwest-based Sway Wild. Formerly called the Mandy Fer and Dave McGraw Band, this rise-to-your- feet group returns with a new perspective, a new name, and a new sound. Sway Wild is their own unique blend of indie-rock, folk, funk and pop, influenced heavily by all the wild things around and within them. With an amazingly talented female guitarist and skillfully written original tunes, the crowd was mesmerized enough last summer to insist that we bring them back. The opener is Eric Henderson who has been playing guitar since he was eight years old, and is greatly influenced by John Mayer. July 18 North Point Jazz returns with their smooth Latin jazz tunes. This local favorite, who also provokes the dance urge, features Barry Aiken, NIC music instructor playing the keyboard, and Luisa Tabora on vocals in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Local musician and professional photographer Brady Campbell opens. July 26 features Erin Hall (aka Erin and Her Cello), who has been charming audiences with her quirky, vivacious and undeniably unique performances all over the East Coast. Launching their first West Coast tour in Coeur d’Alene, this kooky songstress and her band simply cannot be confined to one musical genre, playfully melding 50s/60s doo-wop, surf rock, jazz, funk and French pop while mixing in a bit of wit. All this, and you won’t be able to stop smiling! Melissa Jackson opens. July | August 2019 61
