“ Cascades ” from all walks of life to be able to have something of mine . Just because they can ’ t afford a larger piece doesn ’ t mean their needs shouldn ’ t be fulfilled .
“ I do have my fine art as well , and I define fine art as Art for the sake of Art . I do my abstracts and a lot of pieces solely for my joy of creating them . So , they exist . Those are fun ; they are kind of like my jazz if you use musical terms .
“ Thankfully , I ’ ve been able to generate income from something I love to do . There are compromises to be made . It ’ s not easy street . It ’ s still a feast or famine reality . I ’ ll have a really good year , but then if I haven ’ t been so busy , or I haven ’ t been out there selling or paying attention to the market things can be slim . Even if you have a successful website / online store , you still have to put energy into it . The old saying , ’ If you build it , they will come ‘ isn ’ t true . You have to cultivate interest ; like a farmer or gardener you have to plant the seeds and nurture them as they grow . You ’ ve got to be out there , contacting people to remind them , hey , I ’ m out here !”
When I asked him about his goals for the future he said , “ Pretty simple — to continue to improve as a painter and grow as an artist and continue to spend my time doing what I love to do with my life .”
That sounds like a great plan to me , and I wish him well .
