Truce Between Fighting Men What is your favorite piece of your own artwork to date? “ I have many paintings that I’ve done that I really like and would like to have or see again. One painting that stands out in my artistic journey is “ Truce Between Fighting Men “. It is a painting with my father in it. That painting holds a special place in my heart. I have it from a reliable source, my mother, that I have been creative since I wore diapers. It’s amazing what you can do with a paint substitute. When I was 12 years old I fell in love with a coffee table book on the works of Frederick Remington. My parents presented me with that book at Christmas. I studied his paintings for hours on end and copied most of them many times over. I think that was the catalyst for my desire to paint the Old West. That interest never waned throughout my adolescence. Putting pictures to the written word became my life’s pursuit. When I received my first professional illustration job at 16, I knew from that moment on, my career path was set for me.” July |August 2016 9
