Art Chowder: Cool. You’ve done a lot
to support kid’s groups. Any advice for
those shy young artists out there who
might be reluctant to share their work?
Erik: Inspiring people and giving people
hope for the future is one of the best gifts
we can give so if that means sharing
your work as an artist, you should do it!
Sometimes the work I have liked the least,
is the most appreciated! So you have to
get out of your own head and put it out
anyways. Without taking risks we really
don’t move forward much.
Art Chowder: Good advice. So what’s
next for you?
Erik: I’m investigating 3D printing to
render a chair that I originally made out
of wood. I want to try to replicate that
into a rad looking settee. Two chairs that
mirror each other and a side table. I’m very
interested in how 3D printing can facilitate
new forms of art. My passion will always
be woodworking, but when you make a
piece that’s a one-off, you sell it and it’s
gone. I’m working on taking it to the next
realm and having a show with a mix of
natural, soft wood art and crisp metal art
based on wood shapes and forms.
