Interview
With Karen Mobley
I am an only child from a generation in which adults were adults, not pals or peers. I created my own worlds from a very early
age, on an old manual typewriter my mother brought home from her job before it was to be thrown away. I spent enormous
amounts of time outdoors, watching and getting acquainted with animals (live ones and dead ones … I had no “yuck” filter; kids
really do not) and weather and plants. Now that I’m older (73) I describe memories as they come, stories as they unspool like
movies in my head – images, people, places, and animals from a varied experience.
