The hoop dance is a “ show ” dance performed by many different Native American tribes across the U . S . The dancers use one to 30 hoops that can represent things such as animals or symbols , and have further meaning depicted in the colors and patterns on the rings .

Even though he ’ s an animation writer now , years ago he didn ’ t think he was allowed to pursue that career because he didn ’ t know any Native Americans in that field . However , while studying at Washington State University ( WSU ), doing standup comedy and hosting radio shows , he was pulled aside by his professors and told , “ You know you can just work in the entertainment industry , right ?”
For him , that push from his professors illuminated for him that pursuing comedy , animation , writing , and entertainment was a field he could enter . From there , he was connected to WSU alumni who worked in the industry .
After moving to Los Angeles around 2010 , he met other Native Americans working in the industry and built his career . Around 10 years later he was introduced to the “ Spirit
Ranger ’ s ” show creator Karissa Valencia and got involved with the production of the series .
He said it was his first opportunity working on a show with a largely Native cast and
