Elephant has become one of the most important animals in Thailand, because of an economic, cultural and animal violation issue, that’s why some people believe in changes and create a special place for this animals in order to give them a better life they had in a past. There are animal’s sanctuaries that take care for animals that have been mistreated. An example of this sanctuaries is the Elephant´s Natural Park in Chaing Mai, in this place they have provided elephants retired from performance and exhibition with a safe refuge and the companionship of other elephants, but also, they oversee protection of different animals like dogs, cats and elephant too.

During the visit to the sanctuaries the guide gave you a bucket full of bananas to feed elephants. When you gave them the bananas, they would take them with his trunk, palpate them to see if they are ripe, and if they get convinced they would take them to their mouth, if they are not, they will throw them to the ground quickly. Older elephants like to eat ripe fruit. Also in this Natural Parks, all elephants are assigned a caretaker who has known them for years and spends the day at their side. The relationship between the elephant caretaker and his elephant is very close, loving, and is one of the most important points when it comes to taming these huge mammals. Is Important to consider that non-aggressive methods are used that rely on the caregiver to gain confidence over time.
