Serving Seniors in North Texas
Dear Friend,
With the new year now in full
swing, I’m excited to see your
gifts already making a difference
in the lives of the families and
individuals we serve. With each
donation, we’re getting closer to
ensuring everyone in North Texas
has access to wholesome meals.
But there’s always more work to
be done. And nowhere does this
seem more obvious than in the
daily lives of our community’s
seniors. With fewer resources
to purchase food and other
essentials, a growing number of
these older adults are struggling
to make ends meet.
To give you some idea of what
this looks like, consider the
following startling fact from a
recent report on poverty in the
United States: the average citizen
has less than $1,000 in their
savings account on any given
day. For older adults taking on
more responsibilities, like raising
grandchildren or disabled family
members, this is a scary prospect.
Thankfully, friends like you are
aware of these challenges — and
are taking major steps to help
our older neighbors overcome
them. With each gift you make
to the Food Bank, you’re helping
seniors receive much-needed
groceries through innovative
programs like Nourishing
Neighbors, as well as traditional
pantry distributions.
As we stand with North Texans
facing hunger, I’m grateful for
your generosity and compassion.
It is through you that we’re able
to reach people of all ages with
the nourishing food they need.
