Turning Holiday Hunger
into Holiday Hope
The holidays are almost here. Soon we will be sitting down with
our friends and family for a delicious holiday meal and giving thanks
for all that we have.
One of the things I give thanks for is generous people like you.
Because of your support, many of our hungry neighbors will be able
to enjoy the holidays without worrying whether they can afford to
feed their family.
This year we have another thing to be especially grateful for: our
new Perot Family Campus. When this facility opened in September, it
gave us the ability to help more people. And the timing couldn’t have
been better — just in time to meet the increased need for food we see
during the holidays.
The Perot Family Campus, located right in the middle of the
13 counties we serve in North Texas, will not only allow us to reach
more people, but also engage new volunteers and donors. And all
of this will lay the foundation for us to reach our goal of providing
92 million meals to children, seniors and families by 2025.
Inside this newsletter, you will read the stories of people who are
so grateful for your support — especially during the holidays. From
Jasmine, a single mother of four who relies on Our Community Pantry
to have enough food to feed her growing children . . . to Sean, the
college student who is thankful to have a Mobile Pantry to turn to
when he can’t make ends meet.
Thank you for helping our hungry neighbors this holiday season.
Together, we can make this a holiday of hope and not hunger.
Gratefully,
Trisha Cunningham

“The pantry is a big help.”
Your gifts help feed Jasmine and her children.
Jasmine, a single mom raising a family of five, knows
what it’s like to be hungry. Jasmine loves to cook and bake and is grateful for the
quality of food the pantry provides.
Without the assistance of child support, money was
already tight. But after she was laid off from her job,
it became next to impossible to feed her growing boys.
Jasmine receives SNAP benefits, but it’s not enough for her
four kids — especially a teenage boy and a growing toddler. “I like the fact that they provide us with [healthy
protein],” she says. “And the vegetables are amazing.”
“It’s hard because Elijah drinks a gallon of milk every
two days,” Jasmine says of her 4-year-old son. And her
oldest, age 14, is always hungry, too.
That’s why she’s so grateful for the food the North Texas
Food Bank provides through Our Community Pantry.
“The pantry is a big help,” Jasmine says. “It alleviates
the things that I can’t buy. I just strive to make sure they
have what they need.”
Her mother receives food from Our Community
Pantry, too. Jasmine shudders to think where they’d be
if they didn’t have help.
“I can’t thank them enough,” she says. “I’m
grateful. They don’t turn you away.”
Because of you, Jasmine’s family and others facing
hardships won’t have to worry where their next meal
will come from — especially during the holiday season.
Thank you!
Thanks to gifts from friends like you, Jasmine’s
family and hundreds of other struggling families in
North Texas will be fed this holiday season.
