So Much To Local Families
“Me and my little girl were
almost homeless,” Paula says,
reflecting on how difficult her
family’s situation had been.
Paula and her daughter,
Kinisha, are all smiles at Our
Community Pantry in Dallas.
Fortunately, she and her
daughter, Kinisha, are doing
much better now — thanks, in
part, to your support. Paula’s
late grandmother had welcomed
them into her home and told
Paula about Our Community
Pantry, a North Texas Food Bank
Partner Agency near their South
Dallas neighborhood.
On a recent visit, Paula shared
that being able to come to the
pantry has made a big difference
in their lives. She says she loves
the variety of food she’s able to
pick up. Our Community Pantry
also provides healthy recipes,
which Paula really enjoys.
“[The pantry]
is a blessing!”
She now has a custodial job and
has been working hard to get
back on solid financial footing.
But life as a single mother comes
with plenty of challenges, and
Paula says it’s a comfort to
know she can access nutritious
groceries at the pantry to keep
her and her daughter healthy
and thriving.
Kinisha’s in third grade and
loves math class — she’s hoping
to be a teacher when she grows
up. Because you choose to give,
children in uncertain situations
have the stability of a full plate
and are better able to break the
cycle of poverty.
Paula and Kinisha are planning
to spend the holidays at Paula’s
mother’s home – and they’ll be
able to contribute to the family
meal. As they sit down to their
full holiday table, they’ll be
giving thanks for your generous
support.
“Thank you!” Paula says to
friends like you. “[The pantry] is
a blessing.”
