Losing his job as a delivery driver was devastating for Austin. With a wife and two young children, he needed to make sure his family had access to healthy food while he was looking for work.
Fortunately, his grandmother told him about the North Texas Food Bank— and Austin found a Partner Agency food pantry just up the road.
Now, every Thursday morning, Austin stops by to stock up on nutritional essentials for the family. His daughter Bria, 4, sometimes comes along to help him pick out her favorites.
“ It helps so much,” Austin tells us.“ Since everything they give us is for a family of four, it helps cut our grocery bill in half.”
Thanks to the money they save, Austin can cover their rent and car payments, and afford necessities like clothes and shoes for his kids.
He is far from our only neighbor suddenly needing food assistance. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 40 % of the people who visit a Partner Agency had never sought food assistance before. And with rising costs creating new challenges, more neighbors are struggling.
That’ s why it’ s so crucial that they can count on your support.
