Trisha Cunningham President & CEO Holiday Meals for Hungry Neighbors During the holiday season many people enjoy a few days away from work or school. But hunger doesn’t take time off. It follows food-insecure children to and from school. It is always on the minds of seniors struggling to make ends meet. That’s why your support is so important. Because the face of hunger is all around us. It’s the face of your neighbor going through difficult times. The faces of kids going to school with empty stomachs. The faces of seniors having trouble making ends meet. Perhaps you’ve never experienced food insecurity firsthand, but the unfortunate truth is that someone you know has likely worried about how to feed their family. Hunger can affect anyone, and the ripple effect impacts everyone. The majority of those we serve have a high school diploma or higher, and nearly all have a place to call home. With rising housing costs and the price of healthcare, many families can be one bad month away from falling on hard times. But thanks to generous people like you, many hungry children, seniors and families will have nutritious meals for the holidays. Instead of worrying about how they will feed their family tomorrow, parents can enjoy time with their children today. Inside this newsletter, you will read the stories of people who are so grateful for your support — especially during the holidays. From Diana, a daughter whose family of five relies on a Partner Agency’s food pantry to have enough food, to Aruilla, a grandmother trying to make ends meet. Because of you, children, seniors and families in North Texas will have a happy holiday this year. Thank you for making this possible. Mobile Pantry Makes the Holidays Brighter Because of you, North Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry brings food to communities in need Diana and her family know how hard it can be to make ends meet, especially during the holiday season. With her father as the sole provider for their family of five, money is tight. And after her brother’s accident, there are even more bills to pay. That’s why she’s so thankful for the North Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry that visits one of our Partner Agencies near her home. Like a market on wheels, the Mobile Pantry delivers healthy food, including fresh produce, meat and dairy, to communities with a high need. “The Food Bank helps us to get food for our family,” Diana says. Thanks to friends like you, the Mobile Pantry program offers relief so that Diana and her family can afford to pay rent and other bills without having to worry about going hungry. As the holiday season approaches, you’re giving Diana and neighbors like her across North Texas the biggest gift of all — the gift of healthy food. “Thank you for helping us and all the families that really need it,” Diana says.
