For their brighter tomorrows
Taste of the Cowboys
Sunday, May 5
Ford Center at The Star in Frisco
Maria is a mother to two young boys, Azael, 10, and
Giovanni, 5 months. She lives with her parents and helps
take care of her father, who is disabled following an injury.
Join us for this signature event that will
feature past and present Dallas Cowboys
players, live entertainment and gourmet
tailgate food stations from the finest North
Texas restaurants and chefs. Proceeds will
support our child programs. Tickets on sale
at ntfb.org/cowboys.
Her entire family relies on Maria’s income to make
ends meet, but it’s a struggle and barely enough.
Thankfully, Maria discovered one of our Partner
Agencies, the Jan Pruitt Community Pantry*. She visits
every three weeks and is able to provide healthy food for
her parents, herself and her growing boys. She is always
impressed with the quality of foods available, especially
the meat and fresh produce.

more information, visit ntfb.org/party.
Red Nose Day
April – May 2019
Every year, thousands across America
buy Red Noses at Walgreens to raise
awareness and funds to help fight
childhood hunger. Then, on May 23,
the nation comes together to wear
their Red Noses and tune into NBC
for a special night of programming
celebrating Red Nose Day. For more
information, visit rednoseday.org.
Maria encourages her sons to follow their dreams and
knows that having nutritious food will help ensure that
they can succeed in school and in their future. Azael has
aspirations to become a teacher and is also very interested
in the medical field.
She is very grateful for you and other dedicated
friends who give generously to the Food Bank.
“Thank you for your support; it helps my family so
much,” Maria says.
You can help make sure our pantry shelves are stocked
this spring. For upcoming volunteer opportunities at our
Perot Family Campus in Plano, visit ntfb.org/volunteer.
*The Jan Pruitt Community Pantry was made possible thanks to a
unique collaboration between the Food Bank, Catholic Charities Dallas
and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas.
Thank you for making a difference
for our North Texas neighbors.
The Hidden Hungry
“Thank you for
your support;
it helps my
family so
much.”
Helping our neighbors in need
There’s a crisis in our community that many people don’t see:
hidden hunger.
Across North Texas, one in six people is food insecure. That means
someone in your very own neighborhood, your church or at a nearby
school is not sure where their next meal will come from.
Many of those we serve have multiple jobs, but they also have rents
that are too high. And as you know, federal employees have had to go
weeks without pay. Add in unexpected medical expenses and rising food
costs, and you can see why many of our neighbors can’t make ends meet.
In order to eat each day, they rely on the Food Bank’s network of
Partner Agencies such as soup kitchens and food pantries. And we rely
on caring people like you to ensure that we can keep providing them with
nutritious food at no cost.
But the requests for assistance are immense, and our neighbors need
us now more than ever.
Every $1 you give provides three meals. With your ongoing support,
we can continue to put food on the plates of the “hidden hungry” in North
Texas. To give online today, visit ntfb.org/springnewsletter.

“I know that providing them with healthy food
is so important. What I receive here helps me make
sure they have what they need. It’s so helpful and the
people who work here are so kind,” Maria says.
Maria has a full cupboard to feed
her children and parents this
month, thanks to you!
HOLIDAY MATCH UPDATE
Thank you to our generous match sponsors at Sammons Enterprises
and Beaumont Foundation of America, and to you for making our
Holiday Match such a success! Thanks to your compassion, we were
able to help provide more than 6.8 million healthy meals during the
2018 holiday season. Your support has provided much-needed meals
for children, seniors and families right here in our community.
