From local acts to successful bands with sell-out European tours like Keywest, there was a wide range of talent – and styles – on show. Hundreds of local people have had their say on proposed changes to the borough’s libraries and children’s centres. Residents could respond online, using paper forms or by going along to one of the public meetings held over the 12-week consultation. Council officers are now analysing all of the replies before compiling reports, including recommendations on the future shape of both services. The reports will be considered by the council’s decision-making cabinet in July. Hanwell Carnival will be held on Saturday, 15 June. It is thought to be the longest-running event of its kind in London. Catch the famed parade as it makes its way from Hanwell Community Centre to Elthorne Park in Boston Road where the main event takes place, including an ever-popular dog show. Visit www.hanwellcarnival.co.uk for more details. The event is run and organised by the community. Waterside’s first Local people are now moving into the first 304 homes at the new Southall Waterside development, all of which are being initially offered to existing Ealing residents on affordable rent, social rent or shared ownership. The new homes have been built by Berkeley in partnership with Ealing Council, Catalyst and Clarion. Over the next 25 years Southall Waterside is to create up to 3,750 homes on the former gasworks.
