These new flats at Green Man Lane in West Ealing show how the
council’s estates regeneration scheme is transforming our landscape.
It is one of eight estates around the borough, including Copley Close in
Hanwell, Rectory Park in Northolt, and South Acton, currently undergoing
demolition and regeneration works, with a further 14 estates to follow in
the near future. For more information, visit www.ealing.gov.uk/regeneration
South Acton Estate was named ‘best regeneration project’ at the
Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2014.
On parade
Nearly £1million will be spent by the
council this year to improve 10 small
shopping parades across the borough
to make them more attractive for
visitors and shoppers.
It continues a programme that has already
seen 30 parades improved. Amy Skehan (pictured
right) owns Memory Lane Flowers in Greenford Avenue. Her
shopping parade was one of those to receive attention recently.
She said: “There was a lot of disruption while the work was taking
place, but I’m really happy with the finished result. The whole area
looks brighter and cleaner and the new paving has also made it
safer for pedestrians.”
The work typically involves upgrading benches, signs, roads
and pavements; as well as improving parking and loading bays;
and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Redesigned proposals by Crossrail
for improvements to Ealing Broadway
station would mean the addition of
a long, curved canopy running the length
of the forecourt. It would also bring a new
glass façade and an entrance twice the
size of the existing one. Since submitting
an original design at the end of last year,
Crossrail has been working closely with
Ealing Council, local developers and nearby
landowners to revise and improve the plans.
Other changes include: A larger ticket hall,
four new lifts, longer platforms, new toilets
and customer information screens. The
