Pitzhanger Manor House in Ealing is Grade I listed and was the home of one of Britain’s greatest architects, Sir John Soane. Ealing Council, in partnership with Pitzhanger Manor Trust, is leading a project to completely restore the building, upgrade the 1939 art gallery extension and reintegrate the buildings with the adjoining Walpole Park, originally the grounds of Soane’s home, which is also being restored. See pages 16-17. 3 Ealing Council is investing £102,000 in improved street lighting in nine crime ‘hotspots’ across the borough. This includes New Broadway and Mattock Lane in Ealing, as well as Uxbridge Road and Copley Close in Hanwell. The council worked in partnership with the police to select locations through analysis of statistics and intelligence about areas at high risk of criminal activity and anti-social behaviour. The improvements are expected to be completed in November.
