same time to speed up the process.“
During construction, you will still
be able to walk up and down the
Broadway and all the other streets
in the area, but there will be some
inconvenience with temporarily
narrower pavements and some uneven
surfaces while the work is in progress.

TRAVEL AND DIVERSIONS
The improvements taking place
between the end of July and December
is a large piece of work and people are
advised to make temporary changes to
their travel arrangements.
To carry out the work safely, and as
quickly as possible, Southall Broadway
will be reduced to one-way only,
opening back up to two-way traffic by
Christmas. Drivers heading west will be
diverted around Southall, which will be
clearly signposted. Roads around the
construction areas, such as Lady Margaret
Road, South Road, Beaconsfield Road,
Carlyle Avenue, Park Avenue, and the
side roads in-between, will
all remain open so that
it will be possible to
access to every
street in the area.
Traffic in
Uxbridge
Road heading
towards Ealing
will continue to
flow as normal
along Southall
Broadway,
although drivers
may experience
some congestion.
People using the 207,
427 and 607 bus routes
should check the council’s website
(www.ealing.gov.uk) before travelling
to look for diversion information and
to see if your normal bus route and
stop have been temporarily changed.
There will be no change to bus routes
heading towards Ealing.
Traffic will doubtless be heavier than
usual throughout Southall and drivers
are advised to avoid commuting via
Southall Broadway and to consider
other routes. Also, the side roads
might be busier than usual, so you
may need to allow more time for your
journey and, if possible, travel outside
of peak times. As an alternative, and if
your destination is just a short distance
away, why not try walking or cycling? It
is often quicker than you think.
