CORONAVIRUS Emergency funding lifeline Ealing Council has set up a £1.5million COVID-19 Emergency Fund to aid essential community services across the borough. It will provide grant funding for: n   Food assistance – the council, voluntary and charity organisations delivering food to people vulnerable to COVID-19 n  Childcare provision – providers of childcare, including nursery schools n   Community service providers – carrying out vital services to the elderly, vulnerable and young n   Voluntary sector organisations – which are working to address the challenges caused by COVID-19 and not covered by the above groups n   Exceptional hardship – for individuals experiencing great difficulty because of COVID-19. In addition to these measures, a further £8million has been ringfenced by the council to deal with other impacts on the community – and a new council tax support scheme will help relieve the burden on those hit financially. The council has pledged to also support those who are self-employed and businesses it works with. Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for finance and leisure, said: “If you are worried about your income, including those who are self-employed, our new council tax support scheme is there for you if you need it.
