In addition to these measures, a further £8million has been
ringfenced by the council to deal with other impacts on the
community – and a new council tax support scheme will help relieve
the burden on those hit financially. The council has pledged to also
support those who are self-employed and businesses it works with.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for finance and
leisure, said: “If you are worried about your income, including those
who are self-employed, our new council tax support scheme is there
for you if you need it. We will also make sure the businesses that we
contract with get paid and that they get paid earlier than normal.”
