Featherstone High Celebrates Another Successful Year ....
Despite the disruptions , it has been an exciting and productive year at Featherstone High . The school enjoyed record breaking results and is regularly placed in the top 5 % schools in the country for GCSE progress .
Staff celebrated as Fadi started his Law degree at Oxford , and Arth jetted off the States to take up a fully funded university scholarship in Ohio ( one of three students who gained full scholarships ). Four students also started their journey to becoming doctors .
Featherstone held a highly successful Virtual Science Week allowing students to participate in exciting events based around ‘ Innovating for the Future ’. This was followed up with face to face STEM workshops including robotics and medical diagnostics .
Budding entrepreneurs are well supported and nurtured at Featherstone . The Year 12 Young Enterprise team won the ‘ Innovation Award ’ at the Central & West London Competition and
Year 10 students created a ‘ highly commended ’ sauce and label design for high-end ingredient company , Belazu .
Featherstone fosters a love of literacy : author Sara Grant and award-winning rap poet Karl Nova took part in the annual Wonderful World of Words Festival . A Year 9 student also gained second place competing against all the other World Class Schools in the country for her essay on the education system
The fantastically creative art students held a virtual Art Exhibition showcasing their talents . You can view this on the school website .
Sporting endeavour is a key part of life at Featherstone . The NFL ( National Football League ) have chosen Featherstone as a venue to run their inclusive and enjoyable programme , with eleven Year 8 students selected to take part . School Sports Week also provided an amazing opportunity for students to take part in many different sessions including : GAA , Zumba , Ultimate Frisbee , Climbing and Cycling .
The school has had a brand new sports hall floor funded by the London Marathon Charity in recognition for their commitment to students
and the local community . Additionally , the Featherstone Schools Sports Partnership has been shortlisted as a finalist for the National UK Active Awards , a well-deserved nomination .
Featherstone also continues its work , as part of the Grand Union Multi-Academy Trust , sharing expertise and resources . This school really does continue to show that , whatever the criteria : academic , creative , enterprising , social and sporting , it is an exceptional school .
