INTRODUCTION

At the top of New England is Maine ’ s Aroostook County ; a place where you can just be .
It is here that a vast region with a spectacularly diverse landscape keeps hidden natural wonders and beauty in all seasons . Vistas of rolling farmland collide against the forests and hundreds of lakes , rivers , and streams – creating a region beloved by history buffs , outdoorsmen and women , wildlife enthusiasts , and families .
An estimated 332,400 travelers visited Aroostook County in 2023 / 2024 , a destination known for the best off-road trail system , winter sports centers , paddling , and melting pot of colorful cultural traditions .
Aroostook County Tourism ( ACT ) is rebuilding the way visitors find inspiration to travel . A new website better frames information for readers and puts trip-planning tools at their fingertips in a new mobilefirst design . Changes to social media put a higher emphasis on vertical format video and the attention span of viewers continues to decrease . The highest-ever consumer sentiment for summer travel by the U . S . Travel Association indicates travelers are willing to increase credit card debt to afford once-in-alifetime travel and the desire for rural destinations has slightly fallen . The Maine Office of Tourism ( MOT ) is empowering rural tourism by increasing the funding cap on the MTMPP Regional Grant Program by $ 50,000 for the 2024 / 25 grant period . This results in ACT growing the advertising budget from $ 130,000 in 2019 / 2020 to $ 278,410 in 2024 / 25 .
Visitors experiencing an advertisement or reading content from ACT will feel wild adventures down the Allagash Wilderness Waterway , feel the wind in their hair atop the reconstructed Deboullie fire tower , and the amazement of stepping into the towering Musee Culturel Du Mont Carmel . We are inviting the whole family to the Crown of Maine to enjoy classics like ice cream at Houlton Farms Dairy and skipping stones on Pleasant Lake , but reminding them to always look forward to the drumbeat of the Mawiomi of Tribes and dancing down Sweden Street every Thursday night in Caribou . ACT ’ s content will stand the test of time and give visitors the taste and feel they need to inspire a wanderlust for the Crown of Maine .
