ARMYs call him Mochi.
They post pictures of him, of his
face, of his abs. They scream his
name at their cell phone screens,
and spam comment sections with
memes they’ve made of him.
Most of this is in good fun.
Much of it is even in support of him
and the rest of BTS.
Sometimes, however, maybe we
get caught up in his fabulous stage
presence, in his killer vocals, and in
the simple radiance that he
emulates both on and off screen.
We get caught up and forget he’s
more than just what he allows
himself to be seen as on stage.
Everywhere he goes, he captures
hearts. Not only of the fans in the
general public, but also public
figures that he meets when
cameras are off.
Numerous such public figures have
commented on how humble he,
and the rest of the boys, are.
They express amazement at how
polite they are. They give their
support to the boys long after
their meeting. This, more than
anything else, can prove just how
genuine Jimin and the rest of
them are.
This faith in their authenticity is what
makes ARMY so strong, because it
allows us to allow ourselves to
believe wholeheartedly and
unreservedly in their message.
Their message to Love Ourselves.
Their message that we can see so
perfectly illustrated in Park
Jimin’s life. Because it’s fairly clear
to see that he didn’t take care
of himself, that he didn’t love
himself the way he so deserved to
be loved.
Maybe he’s not perfect, we know
he’s not perfect because no one is,
but we also know that he’s getting
better.
