A cleft lip and palate is one of the most common birth anomalies in the world, affecting one in seven hundred children. A cleft is an opening that happens during pregnancy, where the lip and/or palate tissue does not form properly. The common misconception is that a cleft lip and palate are only a superficial condition, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. A cleft can create complications in feeding, hearing, speaking, and social developments, among many other consequences. Transforming Faces is aware of this, and provides programs like Speech Therapy. Hearing assessments, counseling to ensure the transition is smooth. ARMY can participate in helping these children by donating 1 CAD, or more, using your credit card. Paypal is also available on the Canada Help page, however, the minimum donation there is 3 CAD.
