Sunbae
Informal term meaning “senior,” but is not synonymous with elderly people as
it has nothing to do with age.
Someone is a sunbae to you if they attended the same school as you (before
you did) or worked in the same company as you (before you did).
Anyone who entered your academic or work environment before you is
sunbae.
Hoobae
Informal term meaning “junior”, but again not synonymous with age.
It refers to someone with less experience in academic or working circles.
The new group TXT are hoobaes for BTS, as they have less experience at
Big Hit and in the music industry as a whole.
