Bangtan Universe
When BTS broke the silence with RM’s Intro: Persona comeback trailer back
in March, a new wave of freshly-written theories hit social media. ARMYs jumped
back into their favorite pastime of dissecting each and every piece of content
BTS put out, searching for clues of the next puzzle piece that would fit into
Bangtan Universe (BU).
BTS’ passion for making multi-layered
stories within their music has been visible
with the previous albums like The Most
Beautiful Moment In Life parts 1 and 2,
WINGS, and the “Love Yourself” series. It
comes as no surprise when the newly re-
leased album, Map of the Soul: Persona,
was figured out to be based on Swiss psy-

chiatrist Carl Jung’s model of the psyche
(one’s total personality) – shadow, animus/
anima, persona and self (ego ). The album’s
name is also a direct call back to Doctor
Murray Stein’s book titled Jung’s Map of
the Soul: An Introduction which dives into
Carl Jung’s analytical psychology.
