own Chapter President owned that room. She has an
impressive voice. The rest of us are not as brave as Liz.
Our Arizona Chapter representa ves, Liz Carrera, Ruben
Vargas, and Mary Simmons wrapped up our trip with a
visit to the famous Voodoo doughnuts, where we tried an
amazing maple bacon doughnut. I was also honored to be
singled out to receive a classic Voodoo doughnut from a
mystery hand out the side door. It was really nice and a

My biggest take away from this conference was mee ng
people with the same passion for our profession and for
volunteering to become involved in their chapter’s suc‐
cess.
My focus this year as your newly elected Execu ve Vice
President is to fully support the Chapter President, Liz
Carrera by learning my responsibili es as well as all board
member responsibili es so I may become a leader who
makes a difference for our members. I look forward to
par cipa ng in the educa onal planning for our
Chapters 2015‐16 season, and the opportunity to get to
know each and every one of you just a li le bit be er. I

up and tug on my sleeve to start a conversa on. I am
truly looking forward to this year’s events. I know you
will be pleased as well.
Sincerely,
Mark A. MacFarlane
