Hill Elementary
Students learned the power of giving when they recently
donated more than 2,500 items of food to Mission Arlington.
Members of Hill’s Student Council organized the event,
helping to count cans and round them up for delivery. Tillie
Burgin, executive director of Mission Arlington, was on
hand to personally pick up the donated food and take it back
to families in need in time for Thanksgiving.
Hill students have ENERGY! Recently Hill students had
an opportunity to participate in a hands-on learning
experience during the schoolwide science-focused Energy
Day. Thanks to the generous loan of a Van de Graaff
generator from Arlington High School, Hill students were
introduced to a hair-raising demonstration of electrostatic
energy in action. Students learned about the concept of
conductors and insulators by literally serving as a
conductor of electrical current with their bodies.
Hill Elementary recently held a College and Career
Week with events and activities geared toward inspiring
students to dream big about their future. Fun activities
like the photo booth set up in the lobby asking students
“What’s in Your Future?” kept students engaged and
excited about the week. †
Throughout College and Career Week, students took part in
a friendly competition to determine which grade level was
best prepared to be successful in college and career pursuits.
Third-grade students, representing the University of Texas
at Arlington, came in first place.
