Arlington Collegiate High School
The mission of Arlington Collegiate
High School is to not only meet
the challenges of the classroom but
to also heed the call of serving the
community. During the fall semester,
a total of 225 ACHS students met
the challenges of the classroom
head on and also provided a signif icant contribution
to their community.
In October, students collected socks for those in need and
presented them to Mission Arlington during the freshman
class day of service. In total, nearly 1,000 pairs of socks
were delivered to Mission Arlington. After presenting their
donation, all freshman students rolled up their sleeves and
volunteered their time to help make Mission Arlington the
successful resource it is for the community. Students worked
on projects such as organizing donated books by reading
level, stocking the holiday store with donated gifts and
creating healthcare packs.
In November, the entire student body collected canned
goods for those less fortunate during the holiday season.
ACHS students collected more than 400 canned goods,
along with a dozen turkeys, and delivered them to Mission
Arlington during the sophomore class day of service. Just as
in October, after the donations were presented, all 10thgrade students volunteered and helped Mission Arlington
prepare for the upcoming holiday.
Students at ACHS have learned a valuable lesson about
why providing community service is important, and they
are able to witness firsthand the impact their service has on
our community. This personal growth not only makes them
better students in the classroom in the short term, but it also
makes them better human beings for the long term. †
