Texas Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. visited Rankin Elementary
students and longtime friend and Rankin Principal Raul
Espinosa in late April. Lucio visited several classrooms
and the library, telling students they are our future and the
leaders of tomorrow.
“Tomorrow?” one student asked with a puzzled look on
his face. Lucio said, “Yes!” and explained that that was a
moment he’ll never forget.
Lucio, who is the vice-chair of the Senate Committee on
Education, encouraged students to work hard. He also presented Espinosa with a flag that was flown over the Texas
Capitol to honor Espinosa’s educational leadership.
