School Board Recognition
The Arlington ISD recognized and celebrated its wonderful Board of Trustees and superintendent as a part of School Board Recognition Month at the Jan . 19 meeting . We are thankful for their dedication to the students and employees of the Arlington ISD !
The AISD Board , which oversees the 11th-largest school district in the state of Texas , has put an emphasis on being a premier school district and leader in education . In the past year , Superintendent Dr . Marcelo Cavazos and the Board have been a part of many exciting initiatives , including : the opening of two new elementary schools in McNutt and Peach elementaries , launching the InSideOut Initiative character education program for all secondary athletics teams , creating a partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington for an AISD Teacher Academy , and being recognized by Equal Opportunity Schools for the district ’ s work to ensure that historically underrepresented students have the opportunity to succeed in challenging high school courses .
As the Board was thanked for its commitment and contributions to the AISD , each member was presented with framed artwork by fifth- and sixth-grade students from Bryant Elementary .
Being honored were President Jamie Sullins , Vice President Dr . Aaron Reich , Secretary John Hibbs , Assistant Secretary Kecia Mays , Polly Walton , Kristen Hudson and Bowie Hogg , along with Cavazos .
