Congratulations to Diana Avila from
Sam Houston High School who was
named the March 2015 Student of
the Month at the March 19 board
meeting. Diana is a well-rounded
student and a great example of what
hard work and dedication can do for
students. Diana is involved in her
school as well as her community, all
while she maintains a job and runs
on the track and field team. Diana is
going to attend UTA in the fall and
major in computer science. †

Congratulations to Irfan E. from
Barnett Junior High and Haley W. from
Pope Elementary for winning the Area
7 and Area 8 Spelling Bee contests,
respectively! Irfan won in the 19th
round by spelling perturbed correctly,
and Haley’s winning word was baffling,
also in the 19th round.
Irfan and Haley competed in the
Regional Spelling Bee in March at TCU. †
