serve an aircraft in both directions. Future planning should consider aligning Taxiway H at a right angle
to Runway 16‐34. Taxiway H is currently 105 feet wide. As such, a large majority of its existing pave‐
ment could be utilized to align the taxiway at a 90‐degree angle to the runway. As with other taxiway
design enhancements, the actual realignment of this taxiway should only be undertaken if directed by
the FAA and TxDOT.
Taxiway Width
Future taxiway development should meet Taxiway Design Group (TDG) 3 standards on Runway 16‐34.
TDG 3 standards call for a taxiway width of 50 feet. Currently, parallel Taxiway A on the east side of
the runway, as well as Taxiways A, C, E, F, and A connecting parallel Taxiway A and the runway range
from 35 feet to 45 feet in width. As illustrated on Exhibit 4C, these taxiways are ultimately planned for
a width of 50 feet. Taxiways B and D on the east side of the runway and the partial parallel taxiway
system on the west side of the runway currently meet or exceed TDG 3 standards.
In addition, taxiway pavement fillets should be planned to meet TDG 3 standards and accommodate
proper cockpit over centerline steering methodology as defined in AC 150/5300‐13A, Change 1. The
design of taxiway fillets should consider constructability and maintenance, and it is often preferable to
construct more pavement than the minimum required in order to maintain the taxiway edge safety
margin. Designing taxiway fillets for a particular aircraft is subject to FAA and TxDOT review.
Taxiway Separation Standards
Taxiway separation standards are a function of the critical design aircraft for the future condition.
Separation standards are directly related to the wingspan of the critical design aircraft, which is 49 feet
to 79 feet for ADG II and 79 feet to 118 feet for ADG III.
Parallel Taxiway A and partial parallel Taxiway G are both situated at 400 feet from Runway 16‐34 (cen‐
terline to centerline). This distance meets the separation standard for C‐II and C‐III design with lower
than ¾‐mile visibility minimums.
Separation standards also apply to distances between parallel taxiways and/or taxilanes on the airfield.
On the east side of the airfield, the separation between parallel Taxiway A and a taxilane providing ac‐
cess to T‐hangar development south of the terminal area does not meet ADG II or III separation stand‐
ards. Currently, the distance between the taxiway and taxilane is 60 feet (centerline to centerline).
ADG II standards call for a separation distance of 105 feet and ADG III standards call for a separation
distance of 152 feet. In addition, a taxilane serving marked aircraft tiedowns on the south aircraft
parking apron is separated from parallel Taxiway A by a distance of 80 feet. Similarly, this separation
does not meet ADG II and III standards.
